A&R stands for Artists and Repertoire. This is the division of a record label that is responsible for talent scouting and the artistic and commercial development of the recording artist. One of the main roles of A&R is overseeing the recording process to has three main responsibilities:

A & R work as an advisor who will help nurture a certain sound and image. Their duties include listening to demos, aligning artists with the right producer, and offering creative input.
An A&R should find marketable music for the artist to record.

As today’s independent music industry is growing rapidly, Fred has noticed that there is a numerous amount of potentially great artist being held back by sub par material for their project.
